Captain Darrold S. McArthur was active duty and served 18 years with the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department, was a U.S. Navy veteran and a proud alumnus of FSCJ. He passed away on February 21, 2022 at the age of 51. The sudden loss of Captain McArthur left an indelible mark in JFRD as an exemplary first responder, a loving husband, a giving father and a loving son. He devoted himself to being an example for future firefighters, and was a willing mentor for anyone interested in joining JFRD. This scholarship, inaugurated by the McArthur family, is in honor of Captain McArthur’s legacy and commitment to “paying it forward.”
This scholarship provides financial assistance to current, or future students, enrolled in programs through the FSCJ Fire Academy of the South. Eligible students must have successfully completed the Emergency Medical Technician course. Awards may be given up to $1,000 per student per school year.
We invite you, or your organization, to consider supporting Captain McArthur’s perpetual legacy by adding your commitment to the growing list of donors who have contributed to the Captain McArthur’s Endowment Fund housed at the FSCJ Foundation. Proceeds from the account will be used to provide scholarships for students who have successfully completed the Emergency Medical Technician Program and are currently enrolled in the FSCJ Fire Academy of the South.
